The all new Irish Menu Madness is live at The Irish House

If you are around VR Bengaluru then you have to make a pit stop at The Irish House. It is not a typical pub or bar, but it motivates people to come in groups and spend time, more like community building. And if the food is good then why wouldn't anyone want to stop by.

Situated at Level 3 of VR Mall, it has a Full Bar Available along with Outdoor Seating, Wifi, Live Sports Screening & Smoking Area too (though I would recommend you to quit smoking now). The interiors were done well and its catchy, I personally loved the interiors.
They have changed their menu for some freshness and introduced many new dishes so I took this opportunity to try it out. Get ready for some Irish Menu Madness.

I am in love with spicy mocktails so at a glance of Spiced Guava Mary, I ordered it. It had pepper instead of chillies which did not suit to my taste of a spicy mocktail where as Tangerine Mojito was refreshing from the afternoon heat.

For appetisers, Belfast glazed chicken wings was served where you can opt for the glaze of your choice out of honey chili, honey bbq and hickory bbq. I relished these good chicken wings with honey chilli sauce :) The next starter was brilliant. Smoked Duck Pita Pockets were very tasty and messy to eat which had spinach pita pockets filled with orange glazed smoked duck, creamy ranch, tasted peanuts topped with shredded carrots.

Next came The Sourdough Fondue Bowl whcih looked very appetising. Spicy grilled chicken bites, smoked chicken sausages, chargrilled broccoli and roasted sweet potatoes were served in a platter with sourdough bread bowl filled with cheese sauce.

For main course, I opted for Tenderloin bowl which had tenderloin served with cracked wheat and honey glazed carrots. The meat was very tender and juicy and the combination of tenderloin with cracked wheat was the highlight of the meal. This was my favorite dish from my meal. Next. I was in a mood to have some pizza's so I went for Sriracha Chicken Pizza which had Chicken Bolognese with sriracha drizzle.

While munching of main course, I opted for Green Appletini and Peach iced-tea. Green appletini was my favorite mocktail which had green apple extract, orange juice, pineapple juice along with fresh lime served in a martini glass.

No meal is complete without a dessert so I chose Nutty Caramel Pie. Gooey caramel and peanut butter pie layered with rich chocolate ganache is delicious and when served with warm caramel sauce, it can take you to another planet. Beware, it is a very filling dessert. I am not much of a peanut butter fan but I liked this dessert. For my next visit, I have Dual Chocolate Torte in my mind for a chocolate fan like me :)

So when you are around Mahadevpura, head to VR Mall and go straight to Level 3 to enjoy this menu madness.

Night Market at The Fatty Bao

2016 is coming to end and with this festival season, The Fatty Bao brings to you Night Market, the year-end, big, bang festival inspired by the diverse street food grills and night market delicacies from across East Asia. While I have been planning to visit different countries of Asia for my travel, it just did not materialise so this food festival gave me an option to enjoy the region's food in Bengaluru.
The place is lit up with fairy lights and acoustic music played throughout while one enjoy hot sizzling grills to magical drinks. Chef Prashant and his team will leave you spell-bound with some amazing flavours from the streets of Asia. A meal with delicious Asian street food and the coolest cocktails, you will experience the diverse styles, flavours and food traditions of the region.
While I sipped on mocktails from their regular menu sushi's had arrived. Veggies can enjoy Vegetarian Temari Sushi, a thread ball shaped sushi with seasonal vegetables while tuna lovers like me can enjoy Tuna Oshizushi, pressed Sushi with soy caviar. I had started enjoying Sushi from The Fatty bao so this place will always remain close to my heart and tummy.
From the grills, quick bites were served, started with Grilled Quail Eggs with sambal oelek which I enjoyed from the skewer, next was Fire Cracker Chicken Wings stuffed with basil jasmine rice which had a burst of flavors in my mouth. Fried Stinky Tofu with scallion & chilli sauce did not stand out much for me as I am not fond of tofu. Lastly, Chicken Gochi, fried chicken topped with chilli garlic sauce and cheese was a decent quick bite.
They also had Mu Ping- Thai grilled marinated pork tenderloin served with papaya salad and Hashimaki which is a Japanese omelette on chopstick with shredded cabbage and bacon which I did not try as it had pork.

From the Fatty Platters, I tried the seafood platter - Kushikatsu Seafood Platter which had a selection of bite-sized pieces of fish, prawn, squid and oysters, deep-fried and served with a sweet-chilli sauce. This did not suit my taste buds as I do not like deep-fried dishes. There is a Kushikatsu Veg Platter for veggies too which has Lotus stem, eggplant, mushrooms and potatoes.
My favorite from the menu was Mindanao Beef Skewer, char grilled filipino-style marinated beef cubes had the perfect blend of flavors which complimented the meat giving a satisfactory meal. Those who do not beef can try Malay spicy coconut lamb served in a skewer with coriander and peanut sauce.
No meal is complete without desserts, so for Banana lovers like me, Tokyo Banana is a treat, an airy sponge cake filled with Banana Custard and served with caramelized banana ice cream. Another dessert which is on offer is the Filipino Lokot Lokot, Crispy rice net filled with  jaggery custard served with a lemon ice cream.
Special thanks to the Team of The Fatty Bao to celebrate my win for Best Lifestyle Blog 2016 at Indian Food Bloggers Awards 2016 :)
Some green tea to end the meal
You can enjoy the street food from the East till 1st January 2017, so this festival season if you are not holidaying anywhere and staying in the city like me, head to The Fatty Bao for a night market experience with a meal having flavors of Asia.

Amrut Whisky Tasting at The Glass House

I was recently invited for Amrut Whisky tasting session at the Glass house, Bangalore. As I do not consume alcohol, I took along Arjun from  http://evaluatedpirate.blogspot.in/ along with me for the alcohol tasting while I enjoyed the food at The Glass House.

Amrut whisky is based in our very own Bengaluru, an Indian brand single malt whisky. They have reached international market and already been sold in over 30 countries across the world. Amrut Fusion has been rated at No.3 by Jim Murray from over 4,000 whisky he had tried from across the world, with a score of 97/100. Amrut whisky actually started out as a MBA project of Mr Rakshit Jagdale, this project has put India in the whisky market shocking everyone across the globe.

Mr. Ashok Chokalingam, Mr. Rakshit Jagdale and Mr. Vikram from Amrut took everyone through the blind whisky tasting. This was a blind whisky tasting, where there were just six glass with whisky without any identification of the brand. The tasting session was taken forward by Mr Ashok Chokalingam who was the Whisky Ambassador for the year 2012, voted by the Icons of Whisky. He explained us the various aspects of whisky that can be briefly explained as nosing, tasting, balancing and finish, along with guessing the age and origin.

Arjun rated the below whisky according to what he found the best:
1. 22/40 for Glenmorangie
2. 30/40 for Amrut Classic Malt
3. 26/40 for Black label
4. 31/40 for Jim Beam
5. 34/40 for Amrut Fusion
6. 32/40 for Amrit peated

Do note that one man's whisky might not be liked by others. But the manner of whisky tasting sessionwas very impressive where many learnt new ways of appreciating whisky.

After the whisky tasting, chef at The Glass House served us few of his signature dishes. We were served with Stuffed mini eggplant roulade, Goat cheese lollipops, Margarita pizza, Chicken fire cracker, Beef carpaccio and Lamb sliders The chef used very less ingredients in his dishes to enhance the flavors.

The Chicken fire cracker had a mix of mango puree and mustard which was an interesting combination and the tender chicken blended well with this combination. A tangy twist suited my liking.

If you like goat cheese then you have to try the Goat cheese lollipops. I do not like goat cheese much but did give it a try. The saltiness in the goat cheese and the dates and jalapenos stuffing was liked by many but not me.

Margarita pizza was a thin crust pizza which was repeated on the table. As I love sliders, Lamb slider was thoroughly enjoyed. The lamb patty was juicy and cooked to perfection.of the food.

A hint of The Glass House will surely take me to the restaurant again.
