The Old Classic/Fashioned Menu at Cafe Felix

Cafe Felix is going retro in their style with a month long festival featuring comfort food from back in the day with Cafe Felix twist. Chef Ritwik Sarkar has created The Old Classic/Fashioned Menu which will take you on a trip down your memory lane filled with nostalgia. So let me tell show you some dishes that I tried and left me with nostalgic memories.

First came the Poached pear and Arugula Salad with Gorgonzola cheese and balamic dressing. I have always been a fan of Cafe Felix when they come up with twisted dishes with Arugula leaves so this worked for me. Next was my eternal favorite Prawn Cocktail. I expected it to come in a glass as I always had that memory, but this also had a Cafe Felix twist with a mix of avacado and green cucumber. There is also a Toasted Ham and Potato Salad which was enjoyed by other.
With the mention of Avacado, I had to sip on my favorite smoothie here which is the Avacado Chocolate Smoothie while my friend chose Date and Banana Smoothie.
Moving ahead with the meal, Steak Stroganoff was served which was my favorite dish from the menu. I highly recommend this. The meat was tender with fresh butter tossed fettuccine and the blend of spices was perfect for a good meal. For my veggie friends, Aubergine Parmigiana with melted bocconcini and eggplant wafers. I couldn't get my hands off this dish too.
For those who do not want to try the smoothie, they can opt for Slushie and we tried Green Apple and Cinnamon Slushie. But if you are in a mood for some sweetness then Birthday Cake Shake could be your drink. For all chocolate lovers, Chocolate Cake Shake is recommended for you.
Moving on, Classic Skillet Shepherd's Pie was next. Chef's has twisted this dish and did not layer it with mashed potatoes, instead layered it with cheese and mashed potatoes all around the meat. Spanish Paella was the last dish served, I tried the one with chicken and seafood alone and no chorizo. This rice dosh can fill you tummy completely.
No meal is complete without desserts. My favorite happens to be Baba-Au-Rhum. I always happen to enjoy warm desserts more at cafe Felix. Tiramisu happens to be served on a flat bowl. All time favorite Chocolate Brownie can also be enjoyed but you are going to miss the sizzles. Caramel Custard is a favorite of many and Cafe Felix doesn't go wrong with it.
This entire month, let Cafe Felix make you take a trip down the memory lane with some of your favorite dishes and by giving it a Cafe Felix twist. This November is for Nostalgia.

Chicken Wings Festival at Bar Bar, Bangalore

Winters is just stepping in Bangalore with the evenings and night being cold, yes yes you may think it is not that cold but we Bangaloreans do find it chilling. So what do we all like to do most on such pre-winter days apart from lazing at home? Grab some drinks, some munchies to go along and catch up with friends. If this is your idea, even if it is not, head to Bar Bar in Phoenix Market City, Whitefield this November.
Bar Bar already shares the concept 'More of you, less of the bill' so people just love to visit the restaurant for more and more drinks while their food menu tantalises your taste buds too.
To bring new additions, this season Bar Bar has come up with Chicken Wings festival where they are serving 6 different types of chicken wings which can be enjoyed with your drinks. Mind you, these are not the regular sauces. My favorite among the 6 was Thai Curry Wings which a good mix of sweet chilli, spices and coconut gravy while my friend loved Boozy Wings with sea salt and tequila-lime.
The other unique wings are Cheesy Wings with parmesan, garlic and Italian dressing. Khatta Meetha Wings for those who enjoy sweet and sour taste of imli, aamchur and honey glaze.
There is also a Fiery Wings which is high on spice with peppers, garlic and peri peri glaze and a chicken wing with bacon for all bacon lovers - Maple Bacon which has ciger vinegar and bourbon.
Couple these wings their Bar Bar drinks. I enjoyed a Coco Nujito which has a mix of tender coconut water, cucumber, mint and lime while my friend sipped on Melon Mule which has ginger ale, watermelon chunks and mint.
To relish these chicken wings with your drinks, head to Bar Bar before 19th of November and let the wings take you higher than the alcohol will, afterall Together-ness together-less :)

The Boiling Crab - a must visit restaurant in Los Angeles

Food takes me to places, directly or indirectly. When I travelled to Los Angeles, USA this year for MTV Video Music Awards 2017, I grabbed an opportunity to explore the place and also the food.
I will write another post about my LA experience but this one is dedicated to my food experience. LA has too many places to eat, food trucks, fine dine restaurants, junk food too but what you choose to eat will define you. I have always enjoyed hot dogs or even a burrito at food trucks which is a quick grab on the go.
On this trip, I explored a new place to eat which gave me a different experience too and the food was mind blowingly delicious. The place is called THE BOILING CRAB, they have 2 outlets in LA -Wilshire Blvd and Kinross Avenue and total 7 outlets in California. This is a must visit place for all sea food lovers. When i visited the restaurant for the first time, I had no idea what I was in for. The server asked me if I had visited the place before and explained me the menu and the way food will be served. With many seafood options, I opted for shrimps with Whole Sha-bang sauce which was recommended by the uber driver. The sauce is a mix of all sauces, masaledaar and little spicy, suits perfectly to Indian taste buds. Whole shrimps, with head, tail and legs, no part of the shrimp is removed, is mixed well with the sauce and served a plastic bag. The table is covered with fresh plastic on which you will be eating. Some dips are also served along with lemons which you can squeeze into salt & pepper and enjoyed with the food. None of this will be required as the whole sha-bang sauce is good enough and everything else will ruin it. I actually got grossed out with the look of the shrimps as I dont like the look of raw meat or any sea food. But once I started eating the shrimps, I thoroughly enjoyed it to the extent of eating my fingers too. I also loved corn on the cobs along with the same sauce. They also have some good appetizers and drinks to savor along with. This place impressed me so much that I visited the place twice in the same trip and will surely go there every time I visit LA. Shrimps have been my favorite as it is my favorite sea food and also easy to eat compared to crabs and lobsters when served in this fashion.
The experience at The Boiling Crab will take you back to basics, eating with hands without cutlery or plates and licking your fingers till you eat them.

Goth ice-cream at Little Damage, Los Angeles

Its Halloween time and everyone has been dressing up to look gothic so why not have some gothic food too, say Goth ice cream? Yea you may get it in India too but this post is about Little Damage in Los Angeles, USA which impressed me during my recent visit to LA for MTV Video Music Awards.
Located in Downtown LA, Little Damage is famous for black soft-serve ice-cream with black cones too. They serve many flavors which are made in small batches and they usually sell out pretty soon.
They rotate their flavors seasonally which will have at least one vegan option for all those who want to enjoy it dairy-free.
Their signature black cones are naturally colored with activated charcoal and hand rolled minutes before you get one. Their black soft serve is also with activated charcoal. You can top your soft-serve with shaved coconut or oreo and if you feel colorful then top it with rainbow sprinkles or fruity pebbles. The taste of black soft serve ice-cream was very different and delicious.
So if you are in LA then make sure you visit Little Damage as missing it will cause a major damage in your food experience. Oh yeah, they have a photo booth too to treasure the memories at Little Damage so get those phones clicking and you get posing.
